After 17 years: Mats Årjes is leaving his position as CEO of SkiStar
SkiStar's CEO Mats Årjes informed the board today of his intention to leave his position. However, he will stay until a successor is appointed, which is expected to happen sometime in the autumn of 2019.
Mats Årjes has led SkiStar for 17 years. This means he is one of the longest-serving CEOs of a listed company in Sweden.
"SkiStar is a prosperous company and I think now is an appropriate time for me to step down. I anticipate more challenges in my professional life in the years to come. I'm also looking forward to being able to focus more on the 2026 Winter Olympics bid in the immediate future, and thinking about what my next exciting challenge will be."
SkiStar's operations have progressed very positively during Mats Årjes nearly two decades as CEO. The value of the company has increased tenfold, which was highlighted by chairman of the board Eivor Andersson:
"I have had the privilege of sitting on SkiStar's board for the past eight years with Mats Årjes as CEO. We have enjoyed an excellent collaboration, and Mats Årjes, together with brothers Erik and Mats Paulsson, have turned SkiStar into the company it is today. At the same time, I understand that he wants to make time for other interesting assignments in the future."
